Gongga Mountain is located about 55 kilometers south of Kangding City. "Gongga" means "snow white" in Tibetan. Gongga Mountain is steep and straight, and the peak platform is covered with snow all the year round, shining brightly and magnificently. It is a small beauty in China comparable to Iceland.
Gongga Mountain is about 7,600 meters above sea level and is the main peak of Daxue Mountain. Around the main peak of Gongga, there are many ice peaks with an altitude of five or six thousand meters, forming a magnificent scene surrounded by peaks and connected by snow-capped mountains. There are more than 10 plateau lakes in the Gongga Mountains, including Mugecuo, Wuxu Lake, Renzong Lake, Bawang Lake, etc. Some are at the foot of glaciers, and some are surrounded by forests. With beautiful natural features, there are also Tibetan Buddhist temples such as Tagong Temple and Gongga Temple.
Gongga Mountain is an internationally renowned mountaineering holy place, but it is also a mountain that is difficult to conquer, and its summit difficulty is far greater than that of Mount Everest. According to statistics, only 24 people have successfully climbed to the top so far.
