The Great Maitreya Hall is located on the west side of the Tashilhunpo Monastery. The hall is 30 meters high and is dedicated to the seated Maitreya statue cast by the Ninth Panchen Lama in 1914. The total height of the Buddha statue is 26.2 meters, sharing 231,400 jin of brass and 6,700 taels of gold. Only the two eyebrows of the Buddha statue are inlaid with more than 1,400 pieces of diamonds and pearls. It is the largest bronze sitting Buddha statue in the world. The Panchen Lama pagodas are of different sizes, and the pagodas are all decorated with pearls and jade. Each stupa is lit with butter lamps of different sizes, which are kept on all year round.
