Qingcao Lake is 4 kilometers away from downtown Hsinchu. It is a reservoir with both sightseeing and irrigation functions. The lake is surrounded by lush vegetation and temples. During the Dragon Boat Festival, Hsinchu residents hold traditional dragon boat races here, which is very lively. The most famous of the surrounding temples is Lingyin Temple. This temple was rebuilt on the basis of the original Japanese shrine. It is mainly dedicated to Zhuge Kongming.
