Founded in 1902, Guizhou University is a national "211 Project" construction university. Guizhou University was named Guizhou University in October 1950 after going through Guizhou University Hall, Provincial Guizhou University, National Guizhou Agricultural and Industrial College, and National Guizhou University. In August 1997, it merged with Guizhou Agricultural College and other institutions. In August 2004, it merged with Guizhou University of Technology. As of March 2018, the school covers an area of 33,833.29 acres and consists of 40 colleges.
