The museum's collections are mainly northern bronzes from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period and Silk Road cultural relics from the Northern Wei, Northern Zhou, Sui and Tang Dynasties. The building of the museum is not complicated. It consists of four parts: the exhibition building, the bell pavilion, the ancient tomb restoration hall, and the stone carvings. The exhibition building is the main area for tourists to visit. The exhibition in the exhibition building is divided into two parts: the basic exhibition "Guyuan Historical Relics Exhibition" and the special exhibition "Silk Road in Guyuan". There are three cultural relics in the basic display that are the treasures of the town hall of Guyuan Museum: the gilded silver vase of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, the glass bowl with convex nails, and the lacquer coffin paintings of the Northern Wei Dynasty are collected here.

The national treasure gilt silver vase is very precious, with a typical Persian Sasanian gold and silverware style, and a typical exotic style. It is a steady and unique shape composed of a duckbill-shaped flow, a slender neck, an arc-shaped handle like a standing barbarian, a jade pot-like belly and a trumpet-shaped seat. The three groups of figures on the belly of the bottle describe an ancient Greek myth.

The glass bowl with convex nails is about 8 cm high and 7 cm deep. The whole body is transparent green, and there are small air bubbles in the bowl that are evenly distributed. The outer wall of the bowl is decorated with 14 raised circles in two circles, arranged in a dislocation up and down. The lacquer coffin paintings of the Northern Wei Dynasty were unearthed in a joint burial tomb in the southern suburbs of Guyuan. There are exquisite lacquer paintings on the male coffin. The coffin lid, front door and left and right side panels are painted with a picture of the Tianhe River, a picture of a banquet in front of the owner of the tomb, and a story about a filial son. painting. Based on the attire of the owner of the tomb, the shape of the coffin and the content of the lacquer paintings, it is speculated that the age of the tomb is around the tenth year of Taihe (486) in the Northern Wei Dynasty, and the owner of the tomb may be a Xianbei.

The three treasures of the town hall are sometimes sent to other museums for touring exhibitions, and the gilt and silver vases of the Northern Zhou Dynasty are so precious that the museum sometimes puts them in the warehouse for preservation, and tourists can not see these collections every day. In addition, the museum's special exhibition "Silk Road in Guyuan" shows the bronze wares of northern minorities in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, cultural relics of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, and tomb murals of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, which are also very worth seeing.
