The Hanging Temple is located among the cliffs of Cuiping Peak in Jinlong Gorge of Hengshan Mountain. It was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,500 years. It is an early and well-preserved high-altitude wooden cliff building in China.

At the foot of Mount Heng, you can see the Hanging Temple hanging on the mountainside from a distance, which can be described as a building on the abyss. The whole temple hangs on the steep cliff, and it is built ingeniously according to the situation by using the uneven part of the cliff, which is particularly patchwork. After visiting the Xuankong Temple, the poet Li Bai wrote the word "magnificent" with a brush. After writing it, he still felt that it was not enough to express his excitement, so he added a little more to the word "strong". These two words are still engraved at the foot of the temple. on the rock.

The temple consists of three parts, the first part is a complete temple layout, built between the cliffs. The second and third parts are really "hanging" on the cliff. The wooden plank road connecting the two parts seems to be floating in mid-air. Tourists walking on it, looking at the cliff below, can't help but follow along. Hang up.

must see tips

1. Since the Hanging Temple is small, the aisles are very narrow, and there are many tourists, it is recommended to go in the off-season, or choose to visit in the early morning. When there are many people, the temple will limit the flow, and it may take a lot of time to queue up, and it is difficult to appreciate the crowds in the temple.
2. If you are not particularly interested in architecture or religion, it is recommended to take a long-distance view near the ticket office to feel the spectacular shape of the Hanging Temple, and then go directly to Hengshan to continue visiting. If you don't understand it at all and have no interest, and you can't understand the mystery when you enter the temple, it is not worth the more than 100 yuan ticket.
3. The temple is suspended in mid-air, which is still a bit thrilling. Friends who are afraid of heights, please choose carefully.
