The Hanguangmen Relics Museum is located in the Hanguangmen section of the Ming City Wall, which houses the relics of the Tang Dynasty Chang'an City Wall. This is also an entrance to the city wall of Xi'an. The Honglu Temple, which received foreign guests in the Tang Dynasty, was also located in Hanguangmen, which was the "customs" for merchants from the Western Regions to enter Chang'an City.
The museum is divided into east and west halls
The layout of the entire Hanguangmen Site Museum is divided into East Hall, Middle Hall and West Hall. In the east hall of the museum is the doorway site of Tang Hanguangmen. From here, one can imagine the grandeur of Tang Hanguangmen at that time. The gate site of Tang Hanguangmen Ruins is rectangular, about 37 meters long and 19 meters wide, and is made of pure loess.
The section of the city wall in the west hall is a part of the city wall of Xi'an, showing the historical evolution of the city wall of Xi'an. On the first floor of the middle hall of the museum, there are restoration models of Hanguang Gate in the Sui and Tang Dynasties and a sand table model of Xi'an Fucheng in the Qing Dynasty, recreating the majesty and splendor of Hanguang Gate in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
