Hebei Museum, formerly known as Hebei Provincial Museum, is located in the downtown area of Shijiazhuang and is the only provincial-level comprehensive museum in Hebei Province. The Hebei Museum has three floors, and each floor is divided into a south area and a north area. The main permanent exhibitions are located in the south area, while the north area is mainly for temporary exhibitions. At present, there are eight permanent exhibitions in the South District, including Famous Porcelain and Famous Kilns, Northern Dynasties Murals, Quyang Stone Carvings, Zhongshan Ancient Kingdom, Mancheng Han Tombs, Yanzhao Stories, Hebei in the Stone Age, and Shang Dynasty Civilization in Hebei. The first floor is set up as three exhibition halls of famous porcelain kilns, Quyang stone carvings, and Northern Dynasties murals, focusing on porcelain art, stone carving art and mural art. Since Hebei used to have four famous kilns that were very brilliant in history, and the Buddhist murals and Quyang stone carvings in the Northern Dynasties were also very famous, so the exhibits on this floor are of high artistry. The carved flower jars are national treasures and one of the treasures of the town hall, so you can take a closer look. In addition, there is a souvenir shop in the middle of the north and south areas on the first floor, which sells small replicas and models of some cultural relics. On the second floor are the two exhibition halls of Zhongshan Ancient Kingdom and Mancheng Han Tomb, which mainly display cultural relics unearthed from the ancient city of Lingshou, the capital of Zhongshan, and the tomb of Liu Sheng, King Jing of Zhongshan, as well as jades, bronzes, court supplies and precious treasures of the Western Han Dynasty. There are many funeral objects. The two national treasures, the Changxin Palace Lantern and the Golden Jade Clothes in the exhibition hall of the Mancheng Han Tomb, are even more famous throughout the country and must not be missed.
On the third floor, there are three exhibition halls: Yanzhao Story, Hebei in the Stone Age, and Shang Dynasty Civilization in Hebei, which show the history of Hebei from the Stone Age to the Warring States Period. There are many pottery, iron and gold and silver decorations. The demonstrations of stories such as "Foot Riding and Shooting" and "Returning to Zhao" are very exciting, so you can take a good look at them.
The reception of the museum is located on the ground floor and offers consultation and free bag storage.
