It is located 12.5 kilometers northwest of Zhangye. It is 15 kilometers long from north to south and 10 kilometers long from east to west. It is an ancient cultural site of the Neolithic Age and a national key cultural relic protection unit. There are Han Dynasty tombs in the site, about 4 square kilometers. Most of the tombs have been buried in the sand, and most of those not buried in the desert were robbed before liberation.

In 1956, after the national geological survey team conducted a survey, it was determined that there was an ancient city under the site. According to legend, before the Western Han Dynasty, the Xiongnu moved here and designated Xinjiang as the capital of the Xiaoyuezhi Kingdom. Because the local people called the Xiongnu "Black Huns", it is called "Black Water Country".

On the north and south sides of the Han tomb group, there are two ancient castle sites. The two castles have the same shape and a square plane. The South Castle is 248 meters long from east to west, 222 meters wide from north to south, with a door in the middle of the east side and an additional urn city. The gate is 7 meters wide, the wall is 4.6 meters thick, and the rammed earth layer is 0.15 meters thick. There are no buildings left in the castle. There are a large number of bricks and tiles on the ground surface, and stone mills and other objects have also been found. The North Castle is about 1 km away from the South Castle. It is 245 meters long from east to west and 220 meters wide from north to south. The door opens to the south and is about 4 meters wide. There is an earthen platform in the southwest corner of the city wall, which is square and 7.5 meters long on each side. North Castle has been buried by quicksand.

The ruins of the Heishui Kingdom have been attacked by wind and sand, and at the same time, they have also been destroyed by man. Before liberation, Han Qigong, the commander of the garrison, sent troops to excavate and plunder wantonly. There were very few precious cultural relics left, and the visible objects were extremely limited.
