Furong Town, formerly known as "Wang Village", is about 50 kilometers away from Yongshun County. The ancient town has a history of more than 2,000 years. It became famous because the movie "Furong Town" directed by Xie Jin and starring Liu Xiaoqing and Jiang Wen was shot here, and has since been renamed "Furong Town".

The ticket office, entrance, exit and tourist service center of Furong Town are located at one end of the town. After entering the ancient town from the entrance, walk along the old street covered with bluestone slabs in the ancient town. On both sides of the old street, many local dwellings have been preserved. The walls of many dwellings are made of wooden boards. Many wooden boards have changed color and blackened, unknowingly stamped with the years.

The center of the ancient town is built on a tall rock. A waterfall with a drop of tens of meters hangs at the foot of the ancient town. The Tujia stilted buildings in the town are built next to the waterfall, so it is also called "the thousand-year-old town hanging on the waterfall". If you have plenty of time, you can choose to stay in a hotel in a stilted building for one night, and fall asleep with the sound of rushing waterfalls.

Every household here has jack-o-lanterns. As night falls, the lanterns come on and the waterfalls illuminate with colorful lights. The night scene is very dazzling and gorgeous, like a palace in the sky, which is intoxicating.

The ancient town is famous for its movies, and the rice tofu sold by Liu Xiaoqing, the "bean curd beauty" in the movie, has now taken root in the town overwhelmingly. There are shops with "rice tofu" signboards everywhere in the town, but the authentic one is also the one in the movie. It is located at the "archway" after entering the town.

In the ancient town, you can go to the "Xizhou Copper Pillar Pavilion" and take a look at the "Xizhou Copper Pillar" engraved with the peace covenant signed by the king of Chu and the local "Tu King". The copper pillar records a piece of Tujia history. You can also go to the "Tuwang Palace" next to the waterfall to see the mansion of the frontier chieftain. The vicinity of the "Palace" is also a good place to watch the whole town. You can see the Diaojiaolou, the waterfall and the Youshui River under the waterfall.

There are many shops in the town, and the Tujia brocade, bamboo tube wine and uncle Maojian here are all good travel souvenirs.

must see tips

1. Furong Town is not big, and few tourists will stay overnight in Furong Town. If you are a photography enthusiast, or have plenty of time, it is recommended to stay in Furong Town for one night. Choose to live on the top floor of the stilted building near the river, with a good view, and you can see the beautiful sunset in Furong Town. Compared with the ancient city of Fenghuang, the commercial atmosphere here is slightly lighter.

2. The waterfall-viewing stilted building with a "free" signboard on the street is free to "watch", and you will be charged after taking a photo, so ask whether there is a charge before taking a photo.
