Hongjiao Temple is one of the few Nyingmapa temples of Tibetan Buddhism in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It believes in Master Padmasambhava. The monks wear white cassocks with red borders and braids on their heads. They settle down, marry wives and have children. The scale of the building is large, the number of monks is large, the religious influence is extensive, and the inheritance system is complete.

The Hongjiao Temple belongs to the sub-monastery of the Labrang Monastery, the seventh of the six colleges - the Great Secret Mantra College. The thousand statues of Guru Rinpoche enshrined in the main hall of the temple are worthy of admiration, but you must go before 10 am to see them.

In addition to normal religious activities in Labrang Red Temple, performance of Tibetan opera is also a major activity. Tibetan opera is performed during major festivals such as the first lunar month ceremony every year. The performance team of the temple was founded in 1955. The first play performed was "Chimei Gendeng", and the performances also included "Adaramao", "Chisong Dezan", "Sam" and so on.
