Hongshi Gorge is located about 5 kilometers north of Yulin City. It is in the Yuxi River Valley at the foot of the Hongshan Mountain in the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty. The locals also call it "Xiongshi Gorge". In the canyon, there are beautiful mountains and rivers, and there are many grottoes and ancient temples.

The Moyan carvings in Hongshixia are divided into east and west parts, most of which are works from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Although the age is not very old, there are also many famous calligraphy. On the east cliff of Hongshi Gorge, there are more than 80 inscriptions, most of which were carved during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Among them, Zuo Zongtang's "Yuxi Resort" and Ma Zhanshan's "Return My River and Mountain" are more famous; On the west cliff of Hongshi Gorge, there are about 30 inscriptions, some of which are special combination of Yin and Yang carving methods, and there is also a Mongolian stone inscription "Tiancheng Xiongxiu", which is worth seeing.

The earlier relics in Hongshi Gorge are the temples and grottoes in the Song and Yuan dynasties, but now except for the painted paintings and carvings in some caves, the rest no longer exist. Among the existing grottoes, the fourth and sixth caves are worth visiting. The carvings on the top of the fourth and sixth caves are still well preserved. The patterns in the sixth cave also have the meaning of the Menghan family. If you come to the grottoes in summer, you will feel very cool. From here, tourists can also walk to the Tianmen on the top of the cliff and the Dimen to the waterside in the canyon.

Hongshi Gorge is also the filming location of the movie "Evil in the East and Poison in the West". It is suitable for visiting in the evening and dusk. At this time, the canyon illuminated by the sunset is very artistic. Tourists can also walk from the West Cliff to the bottom of the canyon, and the Yuxi River flows through here, giving this northwest frontier a bit of the beauty of the south of the Yangtze River. If you come here in summer, you can play in the water on the beach by the river.
