Wutun art is an important school in the field of Tibetan Buddhism, which was jointly created by folk artists in Wutun District, Tongren County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, our province, during five or six centuries of artistic practice. On the banks of the Longwu River in Tongren County, there are five natural villages, including Wutun, Nianduhu, Gasairi, Guomari, and Tuojia, where a large number of artists engaged in art activities live. They have been passed down from generation to generation, and they are engaged in painting and sculpture. Because the artists are relatively concentrated in Wutun, it is named after Wutun, and it is called "Wutun Art". In fact, it is a common art activity of the "Hometown of Tibetan Painters" in Wutun area, including the above five natural villages. And because the Tongren area is called "Regong" in Tibetan, the folk Buddhist painting and sculpture art is collectively referred to as "Regong Art". The emergence of Wutun art is inseparable from the prevalence of religion.
