The Hui Nationality Temple in Yining City, formerly known as Ninggu Temple, also has names such as Phoenix Temple, Jinding Temple, Shaanxi Great Temple, and Shaanxi-Gansu Great Temple. It is a famous temple in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture. The temple was first built in the fifth year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1760), and it was added in the forty-sixth year of Qianlong (1781) to complete the building of the temple. It has a history of more than 200 years so far.
The Yining Hui Temple is a typical traditional Chinese building. There are mountain gates and main gates in front, screen walls and gate towers on both sides. The main building of the temple is the worship hall, with halls and pavilions. There are 42 outer halls, middle halls, and inner halls, covering an area of more than 600 square meters. There are roll sheds and corridors at the front, back, and sides of the hall, which can accommodate more than 1,000 worshippers. The three roofs of the main hall are hook-up structures, and the inner hall is a 4-storey octagonal pavilion-style building, and the interior is a dome structure. In this ancient temple, thousands of people attend the ceremony every festival (Rozi Festival, Eid al-Adha, etc.).
