The old Hukou is centered on the Sanyuan Palace, including the "Jiejie", "Hengjie" and "Xinjie". Around 1920, the Xinjie is what we now call Hukou Old Street. The houses in Hukou Old Street are all made of red bricks. The architectural style of the old street is quite special. The facade of the archway belongs to Roman Baroque architecture.

The internal layout of the houses on the old street is in response to the mixed use of houses and shops. The first entrance is the storefront, the second entrance is the residence, and the deep well between the two entrances is where the kitchen is located.

Among the existing old streets in Taiwan, the arched porches in Hukou Old Street face each other, and the street houses are neatly equipped with arcades. The name of the firm is engraved on it, which is concise and generous. Walking through Hukou Old Street is like going through a vague history.

There are several family temples with different surnames on the old street, and the Sanyuan Palace at the end of the old street has always been the gathering center for residents.
