Huangcheng Prime Minister's Mansion is located in Beiliu Town, Jincheng City. It is the residence of Chen Tingjing, the teacher of Kangxi, the chief reviewer of "Kangxi Dictionary", and the famous prime minister of Qing Dynasty. The entire building complex consists of two parts: the inner city (formerly known as Douzhuju) and the outer city (Zhongdaozhuang). The architectural style is similar to that of the Qiao Family Courtyard and the Wang Family Courtyard. They are all typical northern courtyards in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The difference is , the Chen family living here during the Ming and Qing Dynasties was at its peak, and as many as 38 people embarked on official careers, and most of them had outstanding achievements. It can be called a Hanlin family. In addition to the ancient buildings, you can feel more of the cultural atmosphere of the scholarly family here.
When you come to the Prime Minister's Mansion in the imperial city, the first thing you arrive at is the outer city, which was built by Chen Tingjing in the Qing Dynasty for him, his wife and children to live in. At the entrance, you can see the plaque of "Wuting Mountain Village" bestowed by Emperor Kangxi on the Royal Book Building and the couplet "Returning to spring with lush trees and luxuriant trees in autumn, and fragrant yellow flowers in autumn" that is still well preserved, praising Chen Tingjing's achievements. Inside the city gate, there are two stone-carved archways engraved with the official positions and emperor's grace received by the Chen family. Here you can feel the glory of the official career of the Chen family.
Walking through the Dashidi is the Dianhan Hall, where you can see the exhibition of the deeds of the Chen family. The plaque of "Dianhan Hall" is also Kangxi's imperial pen. Going north from here, you will come to the inner courtyard specially built for female relatives. The rockery and fish pond are vivid. The most famous one in the inner courtyard is the jade-inlaid picture of Songhe Yannian. On both sides, there are couplets written by Qianlong's imperial pen, "The pines are eternal and green forever, and the cranes have a thousand years of longevity", which is quite exquisite. The life in the boudoir of the official family members can be seen.
Continue to go east, and you will arrive at the inner city of Huangcheng Xiangfu. This is the old residence of the Chen family, and there is a 7-story building that is particularly eye-catching. This is the landmark building of the Huangcheng Xiangfu-Heshan Tower. The Heshan Tower is more than 30 meters high and was built during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty to resist the invasion of bandits. Compared with the level of construction in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, such a high-rise building has survived nearly four hundred years of wind and rain and still stands, and its firmness can be imagined. In the Heshan Building and the 107 attached caves, there are crenels to look out at the enemy's situation, secret passages connecting each other, and living facilities such as wells, stone mills, and grain to cope with long-term siege. It is worth mentioning that although the Heshan Tower was built due to the chaos of war, it is a good place for sightseeing in peacetime. Ascending the Heshan Tower, you can have a panoramic view of the entire Prime Minister's Mansion (climbing the tower is not allowed on weekends and holidays).
Another attraction in the inner city is the Chinese Dictionary Museum, where dictionaries of various shapes and forms in the past dynasties of China are collected. It is a dictionary museum. Finally, I came to the Zhiyuan Garden in the south. It used to be the place where the children of the Chen family studied. It is a quite large garden with a very good environment. After resting and taking pictures here, the tour of the main part of the Imperial City Prime Minister's Mansion came to an end.
Every morning around nine o'clock in the morning, there will be a performance to welcome the Holy Driver at the gate of the Imperial City Prime Minister's Mansion. Most tourists will choose to come here early in the morning to watch the performance before visiting the mansion. Therefore, either start from Jincheng early in the morning, or arrive at Xiangfu in Huangcheng the afternoon before, first visit the nearby Jiuxiannv Lake, and then stay one night near Xiangfu, and have more time the next day. The accommodation here is relatively complete, including the three-star Xiangfu Hotel, the four-star Xiangfu VIP Building, and the five-star Xiangfu Manor Hotel. There are also restaurants in the hotel where you can eat the local special "eight or eight feasts". At night, not far from Xiangfu Manor, countless small lights will be lit on the mountain, which is very romantic.
In addition, there is an ancient cultural street near the exit of Xiangfu. There are snacks and souvenirs for sale.
