Jieshan Daban is one of the famous mountain passes along the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway. It is located in Songxi Village, Dongru Township, Ritu County, Ngari Prefecture, Tibet, on the southwest bank of Longmu Co, a saltwater lake on the plateau, at K718 of the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, at the saddle of West Rockzong Mountain and East Rockzong Mountain, branches of the Karakorum Mountains. Jieshan Daban Pass is also the starting point for crossing the Qiangtang no-man's land along the southern edge of Kunlun Mountain. This is also the starting point of the ancient Tubo road to the Western Regions from the Ngari Plateau through the Keriya Pass to Pulu Village, Yutian County, Tarim Basin.


Daban means "mountain pass". It is the traffic hub between the Tibet Autonomous Region and Xinjiang, and the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway passes through it. The natural landscape is alpine desert, the climate is cold and dry, the annual rainfall is less than 50mm, the precipitation is small, and there are few people.
