Jinyang Ancient City Ruins is a national key cultural relics protection unit. It is located near Guchengying Village, Jinyuan Town, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It was first built in the middle and late Spring and Autumn Period (497 BC). In the fourth year of Taiping Xingguo (979 AD), it was destroyed by war. Since its establishment, the ancient city of Jinyang has been the capital of the State of Zhao during the Warring States Period and a famous metropolis in northern China in ancient times.


Jinyang ancient city site is composed of city pool site, ancient tomb site and religious sacrificial site. The city ruins are 4,750 meters wide from east to west and 3,750 meters long from north to south, covering an area of ​​about 20 square kilometers. City site four: the west boundary from Luocheng Village to Nanchengjiao Village, the north boundary from Luocheng Village to Pangjiazhai Village, the east boundary from Pangjiazhai Village to the south line, and the south boundary from Nanchengjiao Village to the South and North Wayao Villages. The existing relics on the ground include the remnants of the western wall, the southwestern corner of the city, the foundation site of Miyagi and the ancient village in the hinterland of the city site.

In history, Jinyang City has a special military and political status. It was once the capital of the Zhao Kingdom, Qiancheng in the Han and Jin Dynasties, the overlord of the Eastern Wei Dynasty, the other capital of the Northern Qi Dynasty, and Beijing in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. In the history of national development, Jinyang City is the link and stage for the exchange and integration of farming in the Central Plains and nomadic culture in the north, and it is also a harmonious home for people of all ethnic groups to live together for a long time and seek development. Today, the unique vicissitudes of the ruins of this home city submerged under the green villages are still bursting with magnificence.
