There is a saying in Yunnan that "you can see the stone forest from the ground, and you can see Jiuxiang from the ground". Jiuxiang and the stone forest are both karst three-dimensional landscapes, but their beauty lies not in the peak forests, but in the karst caves. The scenic spot has hundreds of large and small karst caves, with a large scale and a large number. It is known as the "Karst Cave Museum" and is one of the recommended tourist attractions around Kunming.
Jiuxiang Scenic Area is located in Jiuxiang Yi and Hui Autonomous Township, Yiliang County. The scenic spot is densely forested and rich in animal and plant resources. There are not only magnificent mountains and valleys, but also magnificent underground karst caves. It is a typical karst landscape. The main attractions include: Yincui Gorge, Shocking Gorge, Lion Hall, Male and Female Waterfall, Kanda, etc.
Entering the scenic spot, you first have to take a sightseeing elevator with a drop of 53 meters to go down to the Yincui Gorge at the bottom of the valley, and then take a cruise ship to walk through the narrowest canyon, which is only more than ten feet away. Go through the canyon and come to the underground cave. The Lion Hall is an oval underground hall with a sloping dome. It is named after the stalactites at the south entrance of the cave resemble a lion. The Lion Hall is tall and open, with a total area of more than 15,000 square meters. The roof of the cave is a huge rock without any support, which is a miracle. In the movie "Myth", the scene where Jackie Chan and Kim Hee-sun fly around the mausoleum was filmed here. In the middle of the hall is a huge exhibition hall, displaying some rare stone treasures and ethnic handicrafts, just take a look.
Passing through the Lion Hall is the Goddess Palace. The dense stalactites in the cave are in various shapes and forms, and they are ethereal and blurred against the backdrop of colorful lights. Walk across the Diehong Bridge on the dark river and enter Wolong Cave. On the mountain wall in the cave, there are two huge waterfalls flying straight down, with a height of 30 meters. From a distance, it looks like a "person" character, called male and female double waterfalls, which is one of the iconic landscapes of Jiuxiang Scenic Area. The splashing waterfall makes the mountain road under your feet slippery and difficult to walk, so you need to pay attention to safety.
On the side of the mountain road, stalactites are layered on top of each other, converging into terraced fields, which are beautiful under the light. This is the legendary "Kanda". There is a huge conical stalactite between Kanda, which is said to be a granary, and it looks quite similar.
Continue on, pass through the Linyin Village (there are young men and women performing so-called folk dances) and the bat cave where there are no bats, follow the winding mountain road to the next station of the cableway, and take the cableway for 10 minutes to return to the gate of the scenic spot.
