There are 6 main ridges on Mount Chogori. The northwest and southeast ridges are the main ridge line of the Karakoram Mountains, and they are also the borders of China and Pakistan. Others include North Ridge, West Ridge, Northwest Ridge, and Southwest Ridge. The peak is in the shape of a pyramid, with steep ice cliffs and steep mountains. The steep slopes are covered with traces of avalanche chutes.

At the top of the mountain is an ice slope that rises slightly from north to south, with a large area. The north side is like a knife and an axe, with an average slope of more than 45°. From the base camp on the north side to the top, the vertical height difference reaches 4700 meters. The glacier on the north side is called Chogori Glacier, and the terrain is complex and changeable. The surface of the glacier is broken, and the light and dark ice cracks criss-cross. The valley on the west side of the glacier is a steep rock wall, with frequent rolling stones, ice avalanches and avalanches. On both sides of Chogori Peak is the Yinsugaiti Glacier, which is 44 kilometers long.

The K2 area is not only dangerous terrain, but also very harsh climate. From May to September every year, the southwest monsoon brings warm and humid air, which turns into rain, which is the rainy season in this area. From mid-September to mid-April of the following year, a strong westerly wind blows, bringing a harsh winter. The lowest temperature at the peak can reach -50°C, and the wind speed can reach more than 25 m/s, which is a restricted climate zone for mountaineering.

Mountaineering reminder: From May to September, due to rising temperatures, snowmelt and precipitation, the water level in the valley often rises sharply, making it difficult to enter the mountain. Therefore, the appropriate time for mountaineering activities should be scheduled for May to early June. From July to September, the temperature on the top of the mountain is slightly higher, and the good weather lasts longer, which is a good time to climb to the top.
