Kaiming Square is located in the center of Kaiyang County and is named after the Kaiming Temple. The Tang stupa on the square was built in the prosperous Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, and was repaired once in the Song Dynasty. It has a history of more than 1,000 years. There used to be a big temple called "Kaiming Temple" where the tower is located. Therefore, this tower is also called "Kaiming Temple Tower".
