The temple is located in Chonggar, a small mountain village 135 kilometers away from Lhasa and about 16 kilometers away from Damxung County. It is directly managed by Haerdong Village, the Esoteric School of Sera Monastery. There are currently 62 monks, and it belongs to the larger monastery in Damxung County.

The current main hall of Kangma Temple used to have three floors. The top floor was destroyed during the "Cultural Revolution" and has been roughly restored. The first and second floors were preserved as commune grain warehouses at that time, and some buildings such as Buddhist halls and monk houses were allocated to households at that time. Among these surviving buildings, there is a small courtyard located on the left side of the main hall and behind the large kitchen of the temple, that is Manilakang. Manilakang is an early religious activity place outside the practice cave of the temple.

Manilakang is a very old building in the monastery. It is very ordinary in appearance and has nothing special, but the stone statue wall preserved in the house deeply attracts everyone who walks into the house. If there is no guidance from insiders, we It is unimaginable that the anti-"L"-shaped house with a dilapidated appearance actually preserves stone statues three hundred years ago intact. The six walls of the interior are neatly covered with various relief stone carvings. According to the very rare design idea of a house with a low roof, no more than three meters high, and wall corners protruding inward, it may have been specially built to enshrine and protect this group of stone carvings.

According to local monks, in the early days, it was built by Kangma Mazhui Shengcheng Jigme Bawo, the son of the Cangba couple from Golokangma, to pay homage to his mother, and the name "Kangma" came from this.
