The Shouguo Temple was built in the Qing Dynasty as an act of supporting the Han Central Dynasty to send officials to govern Weixi, and it belongs to the Kagyu Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The name of the temple is also a specially chosen Chinese name, and later became one of the thirteen major monasteries of the Kagyu Sect of Tibetan Buddhism in Northwest Yunnan. Shouguo Temple has a long history, large-scale buildings, exquisite craftsmanship, and murals integrating Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. It is a model of the perfect combination of Han, Tibetan, Bai and other ethnic architectural arts and various belief cultures. The physical witness of the political and religious system has high historical and scientific value and unique artistic value.

Shouguo Temple is adjacent to Yunling Mountains in the north and Lancang River in the south. The entire building complex is centered on the main hall, with a central axis layout, covering an area of ​​7370.43 square meters, with a total construction area of ​​2665.04 square meters and a mural area of ​​228 square meters. The "Weixi County Chronicle" in the Guangxu period once described Shouguo Temple as "quiet and quiet with trees, large in scale, and a resort for Zen meditation". The main buildings include the gate tower, the main hall, the east and west wing rooms, the black temple, the living Buddha's clean room, and the fasting hall.
