Kongtong Mountain is located about 12 kilometers west of Pingliang City, Gansu Province. It is an important birthplace and holy place of Taoism, and it is also one of the most famous mountains in Northwest China.

The Taoist tradition of Kongtong Mountain has a long history. The story of the Yellow Emperor asking Guangchengzi in the classical legend happened here. Today, there are many ancient temples and Taoist temples built in the mountains, which are important places for seeking religion and praying for blessings. In addition, Kongtong Mountain is a beautiful mountain with dense forests, strange rocks and cliffs of various shapes, etc., and the scenery is beautiful. It is also a good place for mountaineering and viewing in Northwest China.

Kongtong Mountain Scenic Area has a large area, divided into three entrances and exits: East Gate, West Gate and South Gate. There is also a ropeway entrance and exit. Most tourists come from the East Gate. The main play area of the scenic spot is located above the mountainside and is divided into several peaks. When visiting, you need to pass through the middle platform located in the middle of the mountainside, so the middle platform is also the most important hub when visiting the scenic spot.

There is a shuttle bus in the scenic spot that can go directly to Zhongtai, but the departure point is not the gate of the scenic spot, but the ancient town of Kongtong a few kilometers outside the scenic spot, so there are two ways to come to the scenic spot. One is to go to Kongtong Ancient Town, where you can take a shuttle bus to Zhongtai. The other is to go directly to the gate at the foot of the mountain by car, walk for about 3 hours to reach Zhongtai, and then visit the main area. There is no special scenery on the mountaineering road from the east gate of the scenic spot to Zhongtai, so many tourists will choose to take the shuttle bus directly.

After arriving in Zhongtai, there are two small ring routes, the west line and the east line. The west line is the gathering point of the most essential attractions in the scenic area, and it takes a long time (about two hours), so most tourists will choose Go west first, then east.

The tour on the west line is mainly based on many ancient Taoist temples and dangerous mountains, including Yaowang Cave, Shangtian Ladder, Mozhen Temple, Sanjiao Cave, Imperial City, Leisheng Peak, Tongtian Bridge and other scenic spots. The temples are mainly Taoist temples, which can be visited one by one. The three religion caves enshrine the Taishang Laojun, the Buddha Sakyamuni and Confucius at the same time, which is very special. The first section of the ladder is the place with the most beautiful natural scenery. You can see the majestic and majestic mountain walls and many ancient trees. Every autumn, there will be beautiful yellow leaves here. The Tongtian Bridge in the depths of the west line hangs between the two mountains, and it is also very majestic. Walking on the bridge, you can see the surrounding mountains and often see the sea of clouds. In addition, the end of the west line is connected to the west gate of the scenic spot, and tourists who want to finish their tour can also go down the mountain directly here.

The east line is different from the Taoist holy land in the west. The temples here are mainly Buddhist. The road here is relatively flat and not far away. It takes about 1 hour to play. Along the way, there are Dongtai, Falun Temple, Tayuan, Lotus Temple, Guanyin Hall and other scenic spots, which can be visited one by one. Among them, the Thousand-handed Avalokitesvara in the Guanyin Hall and the unique brick ancient pagoda in the Tayuan are all worth visiting. In addition, you can overlook the Tanzheng Reservoir at the foot of the mountain from the east platform. The lake is green and it is also very good to take pictures. At the end of the east line, there is also a cableway going down the mountain. You can take the cableway directly to the reservoir near the south gate. If you want to take the cableway to see the scenery down the mountain, you can choose to go down the mountain from here.

The most classic way to go down the mountain is to return to Zhongtai, where you can take the shuttle bus directly to Kongtong Ancient Town, or walk down the mountain for about 1 hour, and take a bus at the east gate of the scenic spot to return to the urban area.
