The Kubuqi Desert is the seventh largest desert in China and the one closest to Beijing. "Kubqi" is Mongolian, meaning the string on the bow, because it is under the Yellow River like a string hanging on the Yellow River, hence the name.

Kubuqi Scenic Area belongs to the desert climate zone, with hot summers and extremely cold winters. Only autumn (from mid-September to the end of October, about 40 days) has a mild climate, which is a good time to set foot in the desert. Now the Kubuqi Desert has developed scenic spots such as Xiangsha Bay, Qixing Lake, Shenguang Xiangsha, Engebe, and Yemingsha. But it should be noted that if you go to Xiangshawan after it rains or after rain, the sand dunes in Xiangshawan will not make noise.

The great desert is vast, the sand is clean and fine, the landscape is magnificent, and the crossing intensity is moderate. It is very suitable for donkey friends to cross the desert on foot. It usually takes three days from the starting point of Engebe to the end of Xiangshawan. Part of the time is crossing the grassland, but most of the time is walking in the desert. Set up camp in Luchang (Zhaoxi Ranch) the day before, stay in Xiliugou (Longtouai) the next day, and arrive at Xiangshawan on the third day. During the crossing, you will see the magnificent desert landscape, and the dotted oases will also leave a deep impression on people.
