The Kunlun Mountain Pass is the only place where Qinghai and Gansu provinces lead to Tibet. Kunlun Mountain is 2,500 kilometers long from east to west, with an average altitude of 5,000 meters, standing in the south of Golmud City. The Kunlun Mountains are full of ravines, containing endless magnificence, mystery and richness.

The Karakorum Mountains in the west are the natural boundary between the Tarim Basin and the Northern Tibet Plateau. The East Kunlun Mountains are composed of three major mountain systems, the Altun Mountains-Qilian Mountains in the north, the Kunlun Mountains in the middle, and the Tanggula Mountains in the south. Standing at the Kunlun Mountain Pass, you can have a panoramic view of East and West Kunlun. Looking to the east, in the quiet eternal snow field, Yuxu Peak stands alone and majestic, overwhelming the mountains, creating a unique natural landscape in the world of ice and snow.

The Kunlun Mountain Pass is a desert landform in the permafrost region. The geological system is composed of complex metamorphic rocks that have been eroded strongly in ancient times, and there are hills, low mountains and hills formed by Tertiary sediments. Wild plants such as plum, tiger's claw, and other plateau permafrost deserts grow in hillsides and valleys. On the south side of the Kunlun Mountain Pass Monument and the Jesang Sonam Dajie Monument stand to commemorate this outstanding Tibetan son who sacrificed his life for the protection of wild animals in Hoh Xil.
