Linfen Museum was built in 1993. The original address is Tiefo Temple, No. 40, Xihaizi, Drum Tower. The new museum is located in Jiuzhou Park at the southern end of Jiuzhou Square, Fenhe Ecological and Cultural Scenic Spot in Linfen City, near the beautiful Fen River. As a provincial and municipal key project, Linfen Museum has been under construction for more than five years since it started construction in August 2013, with a total investment of 498 million yuan and a total construction area of 32,000 square meters. The overall shape of the new Linfen Museum is that the sun and the moon embrace each other, implying that "the sun and the moon shine together". The "sun" is located in the center of the building, and the "moon" surrounds the southwest of the "sun". Several circular landscapes are arranged in an orderly manner in the square in front of the museum, symbolizing the Big Dipper. The overall design concept comes from the ancient observatory at the Taosi Cultural Site in Xiangfen. The total land area of the museum is about 21 mu, with one basement floor and three floors above the ground, with a height of 23.65 meters.
