Linji Temple, formerly known as Linji Temple, is now located on the east side of Shengmin Street in Zhengding County, Hebei Province. It was built in the second year (540) of Xinghe, Emperor Xiaojing of the Eastern Wei Dynasty. During the Jin (1115-1234), Ming (1368-1644), and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, Linji Temple was built and destroyed repeatedly. There is a stupa of Zen Master Yixuan built in the temple, named "Chengling Pagoda". In 1985, the Chengling Pagoda was repaired again, and the main hall was added, and two main halls were built on both sides of the main hall. In the Chuandeng Hall, three patriarchs, donated by the Japan-China Friendship Linhuang Association, are enshrined, including Zen Master Mingan Eisai, the founder of the Rinzai Sect in Japan, Shaoming Nanpu, the founder of the Zhongxing Sect, and Longqi Yinyuan, the founder of the Huangbo Sect in Japan.

Linji Temple, also known as Linji Pagoda Courtyard, was built in the second year of Xinghe (540) of Emperor Xiaojing of the Eastern Wei Dynasty. Linji Temple is located in Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, next to the Hutuo River, so it was named Linji Temple. In the eighth year of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (854), Zen Master Yixuan, the founder of Linji Sect, was stationed in this temple. Linji Temple is the birthplace of the Linji School of Zen Buddhism in China and the ancestral home of the Linji School of Japanese Buddhism. On April 10, the eighth year of Tang Xiantong (867), Zen Master Yixuan passed away. After the body was cremated, his disciples divided the relics into two pagodas to hide them. One pagoda was built in Daming (destroyed) in Hebei Province; the other pagoda was built in Linji Temple in Zhengding City, Hebei Province. Tang Yizong bestowed the posthumous title of "Zen Master Huizhao" and named this pagoda "Chengling Pagoda". The quotations of Zen Master Yixuan were compiled into "Quotations of Zen Master Huizhao Linji in Zhenzhou". Linji Temple was destroyed in the war between Song and Jin Dynasties, leaving only the remnant pagoda. In the 23rd year of Jin Dading (1183), Jin Shizong ordered to restore the Chengling Pagoda and the buildings of Linji Temple. Today's Chengling Pagoda is a typical style of the Liao and Jin Dynasties.
