The Liyang City site is located between Guanzhuang Village and Yubao Village, Wutun Town, Yanliang District, Xi'an City, and was built in the late Warring States period. Liyang was the capital of Qin Xiangong and Qin Xiaogong in the early Warring States period. After Shang Yang presided over the construction of Xianyang City, Qin Xiaogong moved his capital to Xianyang, and the place gradually fell into disrepair. After the establishment of the Western Han Dynasty, Liyang became the mausoleum of the Western Han Dynasty. Liu Bang's father and the mother of his concubine Bo Ji were all set up in Liyang.
The whole city of Liyang is rectangular, 1800 meters long from east to west and 2200 meters long from north to south. More than a dozen streets, 9 city gates, and ruins of iron smelting workshops have been found here. In the northeast of the city is the large Qin and Han tomb area, and in the southeast is the tomb group from the Warring States period to the Eastern Han Dynasty. A copper cauldron in the late Warring States period was unearthed in the city, containing eight gold cakes, one of which was written with the words "four two and a half" in inscribed seal, which was left by a noble family or wealthy businessman at that time. Today, there are a few hard-to-find relics in Liyang City. Except for the sculpture of Shang Yang, there is basically nothing left. Only a cultural preservation tablet facing the street reminds people that this is Liyang City.
