Lizhou Town, known as "Suqi County" in ancient times, is located in the north of Xichang City, only 23 kilometers away from Xichang, with an area of 35 square kilometers and open fields. It is one of the main areas of rice, wheat, millet, potato and economic crops in Xichang City.

Lizhou has a long history. Counties and prefectures were set up in seven dynasties, and state offices were set up in five dynasties. There are glorious historical sites such as "Shu Army camped in Xu, Taiping Army built platforms and hung drums, and Red Army of Workers and Peasants helped the poor." . There are three ancient cities and Neolithic sites in the town, and more than a thousand cultural relics have been unearthed. It is the north gate of Xichang and an important town for political, economic and cultural exchanges between various ethnic groups.

In 1935, the Red Army passed through Lizhou on the Long March and lived here for 6 days. The Red Army fought the rich and helped the poor, publicized and educated the masses in Lizhou Town, and was deeply supported by people from all walks of life in Lizhou. The older generation of proletarian revolutionaries fought and lived in Lizhou. At the Lizhou Conference, the Central Red Army officially put forward the term "Long March" with great historical significance, and determined the route of the Long March northward to northern Shaanxi. Lizhou is a famous town with special significance in the history of the Long March.
