There are towering mountains around Longbao Beach, extending in parallel. There is a 10-kilometer-long and 3-kilometer-wide valley in the middle, on which there are remnants of lakes and piles of gravel, which are actually alpine meadow-type swamps.
However, this unique and strange geographical environment is the origin of rare birds and animals on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and some precious medicinal materials. It is praised as the "hometown of black-necked cranes" by world ornithologists. , there are plateau rare birds black-necked cranes that have not been hunted by the World Institute of Rare Birds so far, and more than ten species of birds such as bar-headed geese, brown-headed gulls, goose gulls, ruddy shelducks, mergansers, and snow chickens.
The winding streams, dotted with lakes and swamps cut the grassland into countless "sandbars" and "islands" of different sizes, so it is difficult for wild animals to enter. The territory is rich in aquatic plants, ginseng and ferns are everywhere. Fishes, amphibians and reptiles, and aquatic phytoplankton proliferate in streams, lakes and swamps. The superior natural conditions and ecological environment make this an ideal place for birds to multiply. The local Tibetan people also regard the black-necked crane as a god. From March to April every year, more than ten kinds of migratory birds, such as black-necked cranes, bar-headed geese, brown-headed gulls, goose gulls, and red shelducks, fly here from the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to rest, build nests, lay eggs, and breed offspring.
Tips: Black-necked cranes usually fly from my country’s Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to Longbao Beach to build their nests in March-April every year. The hatching began in early May, and the young cranes broke out of their shells after more than 30 days. They followed the big cranes to forage and play on the beach. In October, after the cold weather, they flew back to the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau for the winter.
