Luding Bridge is located in Luding County, Sichuan Province. It is a cable suspension bridge across the Dadu River. It is an important passage from the interior of Sichuan to the Kangba Tibetan area. The story of flying over the Luding Bridge is familiar in elementary school Chinese textbooks, but now you can experience its thrills for yourself.
The bridge deck of Luding Bridge is built with iron cables and wooden boards. Visitors can stand on the bridge, feel the rushing river rushing from their feet, and recall the revolutionary martyrs who charged here. After walking the Luding Bridge, you can also go to the exhibition hall at the head of the bridge to visit the battle scene of "Flying over the Luding Bridge" and receive patriotic education.
Luding Bridge was first built in the forty-fourth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. A plaque with the three characters "Luding Bridge" written by Emperor Kangxi was hung on the head of the bridge. There is still a stele "Royal Luding Bridge" by Kangxi in the east of the bridge. In May 1935, the Red Army's Long March came to this point. A commando led by 22 warriors braved the hail of bullets, crawled along the iron chain, wiped out the bridge and defended the enemy in one fell swoop, and the Red Army crossed the Dadu River.
