building structure

Lukang Zangwang Temple is located in Lixing Street, Lukang Town. The building presents a long strip shape with a narrow surface and a deep depth, facing east and west. Its layout is two halls and two corridors. The main hall is dedicated to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and the left and right niches are dedicated to the Lord God and Zhusheng Empress.

According to records, the Ksitigarbha Temple was originally a small thatched temple. In the 22nd year of Qianlong, the golden body of Ksitigarbha was invited from Zunyan, Tianzhu, Sichuan, and the incense gradually flourished. It was rebuilt in the 20th year of Jiaqing and became what we see today. to the building.

"The Banyan Tree"

There is also a very famous banyan tree in front of the Ksitigarbha Temple, which is said to be about 9 meters high, 3 meters in diameter at breast height, with a crown of about 50 square meters and an age of about 250 years. According to legend, "Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva" belongs to the god of yin and yang, so the banyan tree was planted with its branches upside down.
