Since Lukang Tianhou Palace was opened as an official entrance in the 49th year of Qianlong (1784), there were many merchants, and the ships were transported between Lukang and Quanzhou. It was a trading port in central Taiwan at that time, and the establishment of the eight suburbs explained Lukang. During the Jiaqing period, business flourished. Because the old ancestral palace was the Hegang Temple in Lukang, Lukang called this temple "Tianhou Temple".
