Luoshan Nature Reserve mainly protects three types of ecosystems, represented by Qinghai spruce and Chinese pine, forest, grassland and desert. There are 275 species of higher plant resources in 65 families, 170 genera and 82 subspecies of wild animal resources in the reserve, including 22 species of golden eagle, leopard cat and lynx, which belong to the national key protected wild animals, and 20 species belong to the regulations of the autonomous region. Among the protected species, 22 species are included in the list of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and 25 species of birds belong to the protected species stipulated in the China-Japan Migratory Bird Protection Agreement.
