The Luoyang Sui and Tang Grand Canal Museum was built on the basis of the Luoyang Shanshan Guild Hall. The Shanshan Guild Hall was built in the Kangxi and Yongzheng years of the Qing Dynasty, with a history of more than 300 years. Opposite is the Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army's Luo Office. The Shanshan Guild Hall was built with donations from wealthy merchants from the Qin and Jin Dynasties at that time, and it was a social public place for "communicating hometown friendship, conducting business, and respecting Lord Guan".
The guild hall faces south from the north, and the layout is dense at the front and sparse at the back. It has a screen wall, a mountain gate, a dance building, a main hall, a worship hall, and two pairs of majestic stone lions in front of the door. The screen wall is 12 meters high and is made of blue carved bricks. In the center, colored glazed square bricks are inlaid to form three square walls, on which are carved two dragons playing with pearls, flowers, figures and so on.
The mountain gate echoes the glazed screen wall, which is three rooms wide, and the east and west side walls are respectively connected with the east and west gates. There is a stone plaque of "Hedong Master" on the main entrance. There is a courtyard between the dance building and the mountain gate, which is located in the south, facing north. The dance floor is five rooms wide and three rooms deep, and is in a "convex" shape overall. It still retains the finely carved wood carving decoration. The main hall is the main building, with a width of 5 rooms and a depth of 3 rooms, with a Xieshan-style roof, glazed tiles, and hooked brackets, which are unique.
