At the junction of Benzilan Town, Deqin County, Yunnan Province, and Zigeng Township, Derong County, Sichuan Province, the Jinsha River turns a large U-shaped bend in the canyon. It outlines a beautiful curve on the earth, known as the "Great Bay of the Jinsha River". The first bend is formed because of the Ricone Peak in Derong on the other side. Its elliptical pyramid-shaped mountain protrudes from the wall of the Jinsha River Gorge, forcing the river to form a big "Ω" shape around the peak, which has become a wonder in the world.
