Jiangnu Temple is located at the foot of Jinshan Mountain in Yintai District, Tongchuan, about 1.5 kilometers away from the ancient city of Tongchuan. The legend of Meng Jiangnu spread here since ancient times makes it somewhat mysterious.

The story of Meng Jiangnu is widely spread among the people in our country. Tongchuan Jiangnu Temple was built more than 1,000 years ago. The scenic spots and historic sites were later destroyed by the reactionary army, and the Jiangnu Temple became increasingly deserted. In the 1990s, the People's Government refurbished and expanded the Jiangnu Temple, which now has a mountain gate, a sacrificial pavilion, and a statue of Meng Jiangnu.

The legend of Jiang Nu Temple——

According to historical data and the stone inscriptions in the Meng Jiangnv Temple in Shanhaiguan: "Meng Jiangnv is a native of Tongguan, Shaanxi (now Yintai District, Tongchuan). According to legend, Meng Jiangnv sent cold clothes thousands of miles away, but she did not see her husband. She was so sad that she burst into tears and cried down 800 miles of the Great Wall. She found her husband's skeleton in the collapsed ruins. So she walked back with the bones, and when she was approaching Jinsuo Pass, Qin Bing chased after her. In desperation, Meng Jiangnv grabbed the cliff around her and turned around to block the pursuers. People turned the mountain into a moving mountain.

It is said that when Meng Jiangnu died, her eyes were still shedding tears, which flowed into a stone pit beside the mountain and formed a spring of clear water. Later, people called it "Pond of Tears". Until now, this spring water is still flowing, clear to the bottom, sweet and refreshing. It is said that it can cure gray hair. The elderly nearby often come here early in the morning to pick up water and make tea. The local people respect Meng Jiangnv's integrity, and built a Jiangnv Temple here, sculpted a statue of Jiangnv, and set up a temple to worship. There is a gap in the stone kiln next to the Jiangnu Temple. It is said that when sincere people bow down, they can see the shadow of the gold hairpin on Jiangnu's head, which is called "gold in the stone gap".
