The Menglian Great Golden Pagoda is located on the Nanlei River in Menglian County, Pu'er City. It is composed of 8 small towers surrounded by a main tower. The main tower is 31.68 meters high. Each tower is hung with a wind chime. The light and crisp jingle makes people feel a different kind of Buddhist charm.
The Shwedagon Pagoda is far away from the gate of Menglian Xuanfu Department, which is a symbol of the unity and progress of all ethnic groups in Menglian. It is rumored that the origin of the Menglian Golden Pagoda is closely related to the Menglian Xuanfu Department. The Menglian Xuanfu Department is called "Hehan" in Dai language, and it is the Golden Palace. A long time ago, people felt that there should be a pagoda that would complement the Golden Temple, and this pagoda was built here in 1997. After the Golden Pagoda is completed, it will be in harmony with the "Golden Palace".
Among the auxiliary buildings of Menglian Shwedagon Pagoda are the four square pavilions surrounding the base of the pagoda. "Fangting" is called "Luoohola" in Dai language, which means "the pavilion that guides the way", and it guides people in the maze. The four square pavilions are placed in different directions from east to west, north to south.
