Menglian Xuanfu Office, commonly known as "Menglian Chieftain's Mansion", is located outside the west gate of Menglian County, Pu'er City. It was built in the fourth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1406).

The Menglian Xuanfu Department is the only ancient building complex in Yunnan that is composed of Han and Dai buildings. There are 3 buildings in the department, covering an area of more than 12,000 square meters. There are main hall, meeting hall, back hall, wing room, entrance hall, etc. The other ancillary buildings are a majestic ancient building complex with unique characteristics. There is a wall more than 2 meters high outside the house, and there are 4 side doors around it. The main building, the meeting hall, is a dry-stilted house with triple eaves and a hilltop. The whole group of buildings is a wooden structure, and its bucket arches, cornices and other components are in the architectural form of the Han nationality, and its dry-column buildings and halls are in the style of the Dai nationality's architecture.

The Menglian Xuanfu Department is a relatively complete one among the 18 chieftain yamen in the border ethnic areas of Yunnan, which has high historical and artistic value. The bucket arches and eaves, the carved beams and painted columns are extremely exquisite, which not only has the characteristics of Dai-style bamboo buildings, but also has the architectural style of Han nationality.

The Menglian Xuanfu Department is now a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level in Yunnan. In 1984, Menglian County Ethnic History Museum was established here.
