Zhongcheng Buddhist Temple is located in Nayun Ancient Town on the west side of Menglian County, Pu'er City. It is called "Wa Gang" in Dai language. It is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist temples in Menglian County. The murals and painted patterns of gold ornaments are precious material materials for studying the history, culture, religion and belief of the Dai people. Zhongcheng Buddhist Temple was a Buddhist temple exclusively used by officials living in Zhongcheng in Nayun Ancient City during the chieftain period.

The Zhongcheng Buddhist Temple was built in 1910 (1272 in the Dai calendar). It is a temple of Theravada Buddhism passed down from the South. The building complex consists of a gate, a Buddhist hall, a corridor, an octagonal pavilion, and the office of the Buddhist Association. The main building of the Buddhist temple is a beam-lifting style. There are 24 trees in 6 rows of inner columns with triple eaves. The columns, squares, beams, eaves, and citrus are all decorated with gold-painted patterns. There are scripture cabinets and Buddhist niches. The banners of folklore and fairy tales, and the folk Jinshui murals of the Dai people on the inner wall are important objects for studying the history and culture of the Dai people. There are 24 outer columns in 6 rows, which are raspberry-style column bases, and the column heads are inlaid with colored glass lotuses. The outer layer of the partition of the Buddha Hall is printed with gold and platinum with exquisite patterns such as pagodas, Buddha statues, peacocks, music and dance, and flowers. The roof is covered with tiles.
