Mingyong Glacier is located at the foot of Kawagebo, the main peak of Meili Snow Mountain, extending from the peak to Mingyong Village at the foot of the mountain, also known as Mingyongqia. Seen from a distance, Mingyong Glacier looks like a silver dragon descending from the sky, heading straight for the Lancang River. It is the longest glacier among several glaciers in Meili Snow Mountain. There is only one purpose for hiking on Mingyong Glacier, which is to pay close attention to Kawagebo, the main peak of Meili Snow Mountain. The so-called "walking on the glacier" is actually climbing the mountain to see the glacier, climbing up along the mountain road, passing through the Prince's Temple halfway up the mountain, and boarding the glacier viewing platform, you can feel the magnificence of the glacier and Kawagebo up close. It is about 8 kilometers from the gate of the scenic spot at the foot of the mountain to the Taizi Temple. It is a relatively gentle uphill road, which is similar to ordinary mountain climbing, but the altitude has increased. At the beginning, there was a section of dirt road. This section was walking through the woods. There was no good scenery, and it might feel very long. After walking through this section of the road, you will come to a plank road and a rest point, where you can take a rest. Going up for about 20 minutes, you will see a mani pile. Turning a corner, you will see the Taizi Temple and the Kawagebo Peak standing behind it. Mingyong Glacier meanders down, very imposing. Continue to go up about 2.5 kilometers from the Taizi Temple to the Lotus Temple and Glacier Observation Deck, where the viewing angle is good, and you can see Kawagebo and the glacier landscape at a closer distance. Mingyong Glacier hiking intensity is elementary, and it takes about five or six hours to complete the round trip, which is much less difficult than hiking Yubeng. Altitude reference along the road: Foot of the mountain (2230 above sea level) - Taizi Temple (2720 above sea level) - Lotus Temple (3100 above sea level) - Glacier Observation Deck (3000 above sea level). If you want to take a more relaxed tour, you can hire a horse at the entrance of the scenic spot. Except for the plank road and the steep mountain road, other parts can be completed on horseback. It should be noted that horses can only be hired at the entrance of the scenic spot. If you are tired halfway, there is no horse to ride. Reference price: 210 yuan for one way to Lotus Temple, 230 yuan for round trip; 160 yuan for one way to Taizi Temple, 180 yuan for round trip. In addition, Taizi Temple and Lotus Temple can also pray for blessings and light lamps, ranging from 3 yuan, 5 yuan, and 10 yuan. You can pray and make wishes to the holy mountain here. Going to Mingyong Glacier usually starts from Feilai Temple, and there are also farmhouses at the foot of the glacier that can provide board and lodging.

must see tips

1. Tickets for Mingyong Glacier Scenic Area are included in the Meili Snow Mountain Pass. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office near Benzilan, and Mingyong Glacier Scenic Area also has a ticket office.
