Muru Temple is not big, and it is not as well-known as the Jokhang Temple, Sera Temple and other big temples. Few tourists from other places go there. However, it is also a must-go place if you want to truly experience the original taste of Lhasa. Muru Temple was built in the 7th century AD and has a history of more than 1,000 years. Its predecessor was Muruningba behind the Jokhang Temple.
Because the space around Muruningba is too narrow, it is not conducive to development, so the Murun Temple was rebuilt here later. In the past, Muruningba was the main temple and Muruningba was a branch temple. After the expansion of Muruningba, Muruningba was the main temple and Muruningba was a branch temple. Today, Muruningba is jointly managed by three temples: Naiqiong Temple, Gongga Temple and Muru Temple.
