The temple was built in the 22nd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1604), and was repaired by generations later. The one that is preserved now was rebuilt in 1980. There are 5 main halls, 4 auxiliary rooms, 3 shower rooms, and 2 other rooms, covering an area of 2 mu.
Huangduobao, named Shimen Town in the Tang Dynasty, was a must pass on the Silk Road. Foreign envoys and businessmen had to pass through Shimen Town to Guyuan, and then they could reach Chang'an, the capital of the Tang Dynasty.
