Nanjiang Grand Canyon is located in Kaiyang County in the northeast of Guiyang. The two sides of the canyon are typical karst landforms, with clear rivers sandwiched between cliffs, and various waterfalls falling from the cliffs. The scenery is beautiful. Visitors can not only stroll along the plank road on the edge of the cliff to enjoy the scenery of the canyon, but also experience the exciting canyon rafting, which is full of fun.
The parking lot at the gate of the Nanjiang Grand Canyon Scenic Spot is the starting point of rafting. Tourists who choose to walk can take a battery car at the gate to the scenic spot. There is rafting in the river valley on the side of the road of the battery car. There are no scenic spots for walking tourists, and as long as you buy tickets, the battery car is free to get in and out.
At the terminal of the battery car, there are more scenic spots, which are mainly divided into two parts: Tiziyan Scenic Area and Luoguchong Scenic Area. First pass through the Tianmen Cave Tunnel to reach the Tiziyan Scenic Area, and look at the landslide rocks along the way, which are shaped like trumpets, narrow in the depth and wide outside the valley's trumpet mouth, and not far ahead is the Tiziyan Resort. You can eat something to replenish your energy at Ladder Rock Restaurant, which is also the last stop of leisure rafting.
Then walk along the plank road, and you can see strange vegetation along the way, such as intertwined tree roots holding stones, trees growing in the crevices of the stones, the karst cliffs on both sides are full of greenery, and the air is very fresh. The waterfalls hanging from the cliffs from time to time are also very beautiful, such as Tianwaitian Waterfall, Jinzhong Waterfall and Wanzhu Waterfall formed on calcified stones. You can also appreciate strange stones, such as the square big stone "Nanjiang Great Seal" in the middle of the river, Wukong worshiping Guanyin, etc. At the end, there is an open lake, named Yuanyang Lake, and here is the Luoguchong Scenic Area.
There are two types of rafting in the Nanjiang Grand Canyon, 5 kilometers for leisure and 8 kilometers for passion. Passionate rafting is the whole process of rafting, while leisure rafting is actually the first half of passionate rafting. The rafting starts from the gate of the scenic spot, and the water flow is relatively gentle. After passing through one of the iconic waterfalls in the scenic spot and falling into the pavilion, and then to Caozitang, it is the end of leisure rafting. The ladder rock restaurant is on the shore. If it is passionate rafting, after passing the end point of leisure rafting, continue to drift forward, drift to the end, and go ashore at Yuanyang Lake.
Whether it is a walking tourist or a rafting tourist, there are two ways to return to the gate of the scenic spot when you arrive at Yuanyang Lake. One is that Yuanyang Lake takes the cableway to the top of the mountain first. If you climb to the top of the mountain, you have to walk more than 900 steps. If you miss the cableway time or don't want to sit, you can also walk back along the plank road.
The Nanjiang Grand Canyon’s specialty food not only has the characteristics of Guizhou cuisine “spicy, mellow, sour, fragrant, and rich”, but also contains rich mineral selenium, which is nutritious. You can try selenium-enriched bacon. There are also mountain game, fish scales showing colorful Nanjiang small flower fish, wild mushrooms and so on. The Tiziyan restaurant in the scenic area serves these dishes.
There is more than enough time to visit the Nanjiang Grand Canyon in one day, and it is not necessary to stay in the scenic area. If you are a photographer who wants to wait for the beautiful light in the evening and early morning, or want to savor the canyon scenery carefully, there are accommodations in the Tiziyan Resort in the middle of the scenic spot, the Buyi cottage on the side, and the Luoguchong Resort in Luoguchong at the end of the scenic spot. If you live on the side of Ladder Rock, there is a free bonfire party to participate in at night.
