Nanni Temple is located in the northern part of Kangma County, Shigatse, 12 kilometers away from Gyangze County. The temple was built during the Tubo Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,200 years. The temple once believed in the Nyingma Sect and the Kadam Sect, and now believes in the Gelug Sect. During the prevalent period of Nyingma sect, the monastery had 6 dratsangs and nearly 10,000 monks. In 1904, when the British army invaded the Nanni area, a lama hero stepped forward and killed the leader of the British army with a big Tibetan knife, saving many people and monks.

The main worship Buddha of the temple is three statues of Sakyamuni's master and disciple, and there is a thangka of Sakyamuni bathing in the Great Sutra Hall. Every year on April 15th in the Tibetan calendar, the temple will hold three days of dancing gods.
