Nanshan Temple is located in Wutai Mountain Scenic Area, about 2 kilometers away from Taihuai Town. The entire temple is built on the mountain, with a total of more than 300 halls and kilns, covering an area of 6 hectares. It is the largest temple in Wutai Mountain. The most striking thing about Nanshan Temple is its grandeur, stone carvings and clay sculptures. When you come to the gate of the mountain, the first thing you see is a screen wall. Most of the temples in Wutai Mountain have screen walls, and the one in Nanshan Temple is the largest. Behind the screen wall, there are 108 steps that are famous for their grandeur and wideness. Walking along the steps to the end, you will see an archway carved entirely of white stone, which is very grand.
