The National Peony Garden, located in the northern suburbs of Luoyang, is a professional garden of peony flowers. It is open to the public in April (the flowering period of peony flowers) every year, and ordinary tourists are not accepted during the rest of the time. The Peony Garden is divided into the South District and the North District. The famous Sui Dynasty Xiyuan relic "The Millennium Peony King" is located in the South District of the Peony Garden. When visiting the Peony Garden, you can walk around every corner of the park according to the signs in the garden.

During the public opening period, visitors can enjoy hundreds of thousands of peonies of various colors in the garden. The common peonies in the garden are red, yellow, milky yellow, white, purple, pink with blue and so on. The colors are colorful, the flowers are huge, and the fragrance is strong. In the southern area, tourists can also see the relic of the Sui Dynasty "The Millennium Peony King". This peony flower is known as the "living fossil" of Luoyang peony. The buildings in the Peony Garden are full of Song and Ming private garden styles, with antique pavilions, green corridors, artificial waterfalls and streams.

The flowering period of Luoyang peonies is roughly in April every year, and it is generally better to visit around April 10, because early-blooming peonies are in full bloom during this period, and late-blooming peonies are also in full bloom at this time. During this period of time, there are also a lot of tourists, and sometimes there will be crowds in the park.
