Niangniang Mountain is also known as Jin'e Mountain. According to historical records, in 609 A.D., Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty led civil and military officials to tour Heyou (another name for Hexi) to personally conquer Tuyuhun. Princess Leping, sister of Emperor Yangdi, accompanied her and died in Jin'e Mountain, and later built the Shenglao Temple. Because Shenglao is commonly known as Niangniang, Jin'e Mountain is also called Niangniang Mountain.

There is a Tianchi Lake on the top of Niangniang Mountain. When the rain is strong in summer, the water in the Tianchi Lake is rippling, and butterflies are flying by the poolside. It is colorful. This is the "Jin'e Dawn" among the eight ancient scenic spots in Xining. The scenic spot has high mountains and deep valleys, humid air and changeable climate. The top of the mountain is high and cold, and the top is covered with white snow. The mountainside is surrounded by mist and clouds, and flowers are in full bloom, beautiful and delicate, pleasing to the eye.

Niangniang Mountain is a branch of the Qilian Mountains, starting from Heilin in the west and ending in Jingyangchuan in the east, with a length of more than a hundred miles from the beginning to the end. The natural shape and landforms bring endless beauty to Niangniang Mountain. From the foot of the mountain to the peak, there are various poses and emotions throughout the year. It is really a deep, elegant, colorful and natural gallery.
