Located 45 kilometers northeast of Pingding County, it is an ancient pass, formerly known as Weiyi Pass, which is said to be the ninth pass of the Great Wall. This pass is located at the junction of Shanxi and Hebei provinces, and Shanxi people use Niangziguan as a synonym for inside and outside the province.
The castle of Niangziguan is backed by the towering Mianshan Mountain high up to the sky, facing the deep valley with steep walls, and the battlements on the mountainside meander along with the mountain. Water, Jincheng Tangchi", the two wings of the entire Guancheng are the Great Wall winding and undulating according to the mountains. The Great Wall here has historically become a natural barrier between Shanxi and Hebei provinces. The momentum is very dangerous.
Niangziguan has a long history. Weize County was established here during the Kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty. Princess Pingyang, the younger sister of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin of Tang Dynasty, once led the Niangziguan to guard this pass, so later generations call it Niangziguan. Guancheng, the existing Guancheng, was built in the 21st year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1542). There are two gates in the south and east and a 650-meter-long city wall, with a residential area in the middle.
Below the south gate of the city is a brick coupon, on the top is a gate tower, and above the gate is a book inscribed with four big characters "Gyeonggi Fanping". The city gate tower is built above the gate opening. There are also ancient buildings such as Guandi Temple and Zhenwu Pavilion in Guancheng. The houses and streets in the city still maintain their original appearance, and most of the local residents are descendants of "car households" in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The east gate is a brick gate, and the upper part is a platform. There are five Daewoo engraved on the gate of "Zhili Niangziguan". The summer resort building on Mianshan is said to have been built by Princess Pingyang in the Tang Dynasty. Outside the pass is the ancient Yanzhao Road, which stretches and twists and turns. There is a high brick platform in the east gate of Niangziguan, which is said to be the general platform of Princess Pingyang.
Niangziguan is also famous for its pleasant scenery with beautiful mountains and rivers. The "Niangziguan Waterfall", which is located at the foot of the Nv Temple about 300 meters away from the east gate of Niangziguan Castle, hangs hundreds of feet down the cliff, forming a beautiful "water curtain waterfall". There is also a water curtain cave next to the waterfall. , Baotu Spring and other scenic spots, the scenery is extremely beautiful. There are flowing water everywhere, and springs spring everywhere, forming a natural picture scroll of "small bridges, flowing water, and people".
